Sunday @ 10am, we left home with a frightening feeling. Our hearts was not just heavy BUT super heavy. Took a cab to KKH and admitted Nicole in.
She was in ward 55, bed 12. I was told to feed her before the doctor comes to test her DNA and put her on drip. Her last milk was at 11.15am, 22March2009 :(
(Though she was put on drip with her right leg bandaged to assist fluid flow in drip, she was still as active as my usual Nicole, kicking with all forces she has got.) The only thing which pains my heart was that she couldn't drink milk! Only glucose water!
The worse part came on 23March2009 when her last feed of glucose water was at 7.15am, afterwhich NO MORE FLUID! She was sent to the operating theatre at 11.30am...
:(
She was smiling at us, kicking while lying on the bed, and playing happily by herself before going in. So adorable and is heartpaining to see her like this. It somehow made me the culprit that sent her in to suffer! I teared of course. It's really painful to see her suffer... while she can still smile and laugh with us before the suffers.
During the course of the operation, in order to put up a brave front, I accompanied my mum to Balestier to purchase her things and bought Tau Sau Piah back for hubby to eat too.
Waited and Waited...
:(
Then, the 'samaritian-looking' surgeon came out (there's a reason for me calling him that cos he just resemble one of the guy on channel 8, ask me if u're really interested!)...
He told me: "Still in the process" and my heart drops...
(To those who's concerned)
Updates on Nicole's condition:
Time started: 11.50am
Time ended: 3.15pm
Duration of Operation: 3Hours 25Minutes
Recovery Time: 5pm (1hour, 45minutes later)
Operation was successful with anus repaired and constructed at normal location.
Further and close observation is needed as doctors are afraid of inflammtion and hurting of wound.
Surgeon commented that control of muscles are weak, might need future observation when Nicole grows older. (But not a worry at this moment of time yet.)
Nicole was transferred to Higher Dependence Unit to be kept under close observations. (Ward 65, Bed 05)
She has to pass urine through a line so as not to touch the wound and if flamate it.
She has to fast for 5 days without milk or water (just drip and special nutrients inserted from a line at the neck and nostril.)
As of this morning... ... (as I'm typing)
- She has passed her first stool and doctor has seen it. I was told that whether the wound would heal depends on individual and hopefully she can pass through it.
- She developed a fever last night and was okay this morning. Doctor says that fever are unavoidable side effect.
- She's feeling very tired probably from the operation, sleeping and waking several times. But generally, she's well and I think it doesn't seems that painful for her.
...........
Hence, Nicole should be fine and hope everything goes right for her after 5 days, then she can consume her long waiting milk. (While in the time being, I'll just pump it out to stimulate and wait to latch her on soon)
