Chua Jia En, Nicole was born on the 23rd January 2009, at 10.06AM.
She weighs 3.165KG and measures 47CM at birth.
The birth process starts on 22nd January 2009Around 2PM-Went to Singapore Post to mail a parcel to my Dad (in UK) with DH and my Mum.
-Had lunch at Toa Payoh Food Court before heading to KKH for appointment.
4.30PM-DH and I reached KKH and headed for the clinic.
-Waited for the routine test FOR VERY LONG and then went in to see the doctor.
-First question from the doctor: "How's the baby's moving?"
-I answered: "She did move everyday but the movement was decreasing."
-Doctor next words: "I would suggest that you go for induction since your baby's full term"
-He checked the baby's heartbeat and MY CERVIX OPENING! (It was PAINFUL!)
-He didn't tell me whether my cervic was dilated, he just file me in for admission.
-DH and I agreed with the doctor since he says he saw a case whereby and baby was dead in mummy's womb at 38weeks gestation. (BUT WE WERE BOTH SHOCKED AND STUNNED THAT BABY WOULD BE OUT AGAIN
6.15PM-Done with the admission procedures and was taken to the ward for a rest.
-DH went to buy dinner for himself and Twister Fries for me before I can't eat it again
-Midwife came and checked my contractions. (NO CONTRACTIONS YET)
8PM-Was brought to the delivery suite to administer the induction tablet in for the cervix to open
-Watched news with DH there
10PM-Went back to ward
-Unpack a bit of my hospital bag that my mum brought here for me
-Sent the both of them home and went to rest
11.15PM-Contractions came and without any experience of that, it was PAINFUL!
-Called DH every now and then to complain that the nurses wouldn't attend to me
-Kept pressing the bell for the nurse but nurse only ask me to bear with it unless I want pain relief. (Which I insisted not to have them)
1AM - 4AM-Contractions on and off that I couldn't sleep, no radio-phone with me some more!
4AM - 5.30AM-Finally slept!
5.30AM - 8AM-Contractions again but as I've gotten used to it, it was bearable
8AM-Doctor came for rounds and she checked my cervix (AGAIN). It was 5CM dilated!!!
-Called DH while the nurses arranged me to go to the delivery suite
8.15AM-Reached delivery suite.
-Nurse did the usual administration, taught me how to use the laughing gas in case I need it.
-She asked me if I would like to have epidural and I insisted NO!
-Started to put the drip for me! (2 Nurses trying to locate my vessels for the needles to be in!)
-I screamed when she said she wanted to break my water bag!
9.15AM-Clinician Nurse broke my water bag! The process of breaking was TRAUMATIC! I kept telling her it was painful and she said NO!
-Was relieved when the water bag finally broke, the fluid was warm and SHIOK!
9.30AM-DH finally arrived!
-Contractions were VERY VERY PAINFUL!
-Nurse made me use the laughing gas and THANK GOODNESS I used, it did help a little!
-DH was shocked by my paining that he couldn't speak
9.45AM-Nurse checked my cervix again and it was 6CM-7CM dilated!
-I was in pain and squeezing DH's hand.
-Laughing Gas no matter help, I was too tensed
-Nurses were scolding me to stop screaming and crying!
9.50AM-Nurses started to clear my urine (It was painful!).
-All I was saying were: "Can I push?"
-All the nurses were saying were: "No! No! No!"
9.55AM-My cervix was 8CM and the nurses decided to cut it as baby's head was near already
9.55AM - 10.05AM-I only knew I was pushing and pushing.
-The nurses only told me LAST ONE but it was never the last!
10.06AM-I felt a large gush of warm fluid flowing over me and the stretching of the baby's head was gone!
-Nurses says my baby was out!
-She held to me and asked me: "Can see? Girl or Boy?"
-While being in midst, I told her girl right?
-AND I 'FAINTED' (too tired to move)
10.10AM onwards-The doctor stitched my wound while DH was crying her
-She was crying non-stop and the nurses were telling me she's hungry
-Half an hour later then did the doctor stitched finish (it was painful ok!)
-Nurses helped me latch her on for feeding and she drank beside me!
-I felt so blessed to see her
Additional Notes...All thanks to the two encouraging nurses for the professional services they provided. Although they were fierce in scolding me for crying and screaming, but I'm glad they did so! Thanks for making my first labour experience so sucessful!
CHUA JIA EN, NICOLE was blessed by God with an additional finger on her left hand (same as her mummy and granny) and a little lump of skin near her ears (non-harmful) CHUA JIA EN, NICOLE had her anus too close to her vaginal (same with her mummy) but it isn't a serious problem. Just that she has to undergo a small operation to pull the anus apart. (Non-risky) CHUA JIA EN, NICOLE was born with 3.165KG of weight, measures 47CM, and had her head circumference at 35CM at birth! CHUA JIA EN, NICOLE is perfectly fine and has been discharged on the 25January2009 for reunion dinner with MUMMY, DADDY, 阿公, 阿嬷, 婆婆, 舅舅 and 叔叔!
